About

WRITING BY THE PAMLICO was chosen as a title to reflect our location on the Pamlico River in Washington, NC.

On inception this blog was formally a publication of the PAMLICO WRITERS GROUP. It was created as an outlet for discussion of current publishing and writing topics, along with publication of member writings and hoped to encourage reader feedback. At that time (late 1970’s) readers of the bi-weekly PWG column in The Washington Daily News were encouraged to express their opinions as feedback on column topics. With the change in technology we now encourage your feedback here on this site.

At that time the blog was managed by member James E. (Jim) Keen, a retired community college teacher, sailor, gardener and writer. It is currently managed by member Kaylene Wilson, a retired real estate agent, actor, and writer. Other writers within our membership have also been invited to share their writings, ideas and concerns.

This is a publication of the Pamlico Writers Group, created to help promote and advance writers skills along with expanding our groups membership and reach. Our aim on this site is to keep you our readers and participants aware of upcoming events. Topics covered during the year will be news regarding our annual Pamlico Writers Conference and Competition, co-sponsored with Arts of the Pamlico, discussion of and from our conferences, participants and group news.

PWG’s Steering Committee is proud to announce our 7th Annual Pamlico Writer’s Conference to be held on April 5th & 6th, 2019 at The Turnage Theatre, 150 W. Main St., Washington, NC. Our keynote speaker this year will be, USA Today’s best selling author, Katharine Ashe,  http://www.KatharineAshe.com  go to her website for more information.

The theme for 2019’s Writers Conference will be:  “Why We Write. . .Giving Voice to the Voiceless.”

Thank you for visiting our blog today. We hope to see you again soon.

If you’re a writer looking to find a critique group that fits your needs, we encourage you to come out and join us. If you live at a distance, please don’t let that diswade you from checking us out. We have several members who participate predominately on-line through one of our writer’s forums.

Meetings are held the 2nd (a critique session) and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Turnage Theatre.

We’d love to hear your comments or ideas for the group. This blog is authored by members of our writer’s group.

Thank you for stopping by.

See you soon,

Kaylene Wilson
